Dave Wares - Twattish Boy

The reason this photo is in here is because Dave first used the words Bunker to describe the main hall at Green Terrace. I know this because he said them to me! "It looks like a Bunker" he said on inspecting the developing paint job. And thats it. Thats how the place became to be named The Bunker. Someone once tried to tell me it was an anarcho swipe at the injustice of a town like Sunderland having its own Nuclear Bunker under the civic centre. Fuck Off! Dave Wares named it cos it had brown and green paint on the walls. Some words from the man himself:

I saw my name, looked at the picture and thought, ‘Who’s that twat pretending to be me?’
Then I realized it was me.
Looking like a twat.

Kinder folks might say I looked like someone from Subway Sect or the Swell Maps but, seriously, naah.
I think I was wearing Bam's leather jacket. Or maybe it was the one I swapped with Foss for a Harris-Tweed.
Then he said he'd only loaned it to me and wanted it returned.
I never got the Harris-Tweed back though.

The room looks ramshackle; baffle-board walls, graffiti’d names, anarchy signs, bits of carpet, and two of those shiny round things drummers use when they’re excited.
Aah... I love the smell of mildew, magic markers and sweaty punk bands in the morning.


Three or four years after this picture was taken, I got a proper job, then went back to college and became an English teacher. And I can see from Booga’s pictures that Dave Irwin (who I regularly see jogging along the beach at Whitburn) has obviously become a Billionaire, Newts appears to be involved in some sort rooftop protest and Alby’s become a full-time mum.

John Emmerson lives in London and his job involves twisting together the bits of copper wire that link the super-computers that keep BBC World Service broadcasting.

And I know that John Collinson lives with Trez and their kids in Ashbrooke.

But what’s happened to everyone else?
Hud?
Nud?
Little Sue?
The Operatic Skinhead himself, Leechy?
Or Raf Mulla - the closest the Bunker ever came to producing a righteous individual.
