Borough Road rehearsal room

So here we are, the original home of the Sunderland Musicians Collective, 60 Borough Road, Hendon, Sunderland. It was basically a long concrete floored room with a couple of plug points, a couple of light bulbs, no heating or soundproofing and no stairs up to it. We built a set of stairs and painted slogans and murals on the inside walls. I think within a couple of months we were up and running. You had to get the keys from a Scottish woman who lived on Gray Road. I cant remember her name but I think she worked for Hendon Community Transport who owned the building. We blitzed the local press with stories and they seemed keen to run the odd story.
