TOY DOLLS
Its good to see a bunch of maniacs from s/land causing a bit of a stir in the national music press, cos everyone knows Geordies* are a bit as barmy as Londeners, if not more so in some cases. One case in particular. The Toy dols. A right bunch of nutters this lot, or should I say a right bunch of nutter…Olga. If you’ve ever seen wearsides answer of twiggy off stage, you’ll know what I mean. Battered tesco’s training shoes, snorkel jacket (about 6 times too small) fur lined hat with built in ear warmers isn’t most peoples idea of style. Get the picture? Uncool with a capital K. You’ll never get in Te Face dressed like that son. But who cares? Olga certainly don’t. I mean what can you say about a bloke who admits to his fave bands being: Altered Images, Purple, Gillan, Abba and Motorheed. Wide musical tate anyone? The lads have oft been described as “Rabble rousers in the true punk tradition” and I’d certainly go along with that. Dolls drummers certainly have a reputation as being the fastest around. And the way Olgar plays one could be forgiven for thinking he’d just the earth wire from his amp stuffed up his arse. On the subject of drummers sez “all dolls drummers have to wear the skinny black tie and sun glasses. Its so that no one notices when we hoy one out”.
